SHAKESPEARE TRILOGY
Following Julius Caesar and Henry IV, The Tempest completes a trilogy of Shakespeare productions directed by Phyllida Lloyd, a transatlantic project that has challenged the idea of ‘who owns Shakespeare’?
Harriet Walter once again leads an all-female cast in the three productions set in a women’s prison.
The Tempest transferred to St. Ann’s Warehouse, Brooklyn in January 2017 – the same venue as the two previous Shakespeare Trilogy productions.
The three Shakespeare Trilogy plays were filmed at Donmar King’s Cross, in a co-production between the Donmar Warehouse and Illuminations. Julius Caesar was selected for the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2017 and nominated for the Michael Powell Award for Best British Feature Film. It was also shown in cinemas across the UK on 12 July 2017.
