The tempter or the tempted, who sins most?

Duke Vincentio, taking his leave of Vienna, leaves Angelo behind to reform the rotten city. But Angelo’s ruthless response to the city’s vice brings new problems for its citizens. Not least for soon-to-be nun Isabella, who must plead for her brother’s life and question the price of her own virtue.

Shakespeare’s play is turned inside out by Donmar Artistic Director Josie Rourke in a contemporary exploration of gender, power and justice. Jack Lowden makes his Donmar debut.
